John Williams 26th June 2023

My sister Rosemary entered this world just thirteen months after me, so my earliest memories include her—at school when evacuated to Surrey, tobogganing on the local hill, attending church in Oxshott and playing in the woods. They were the early years of World War 2. I teased Ro then and later—all suffered with characteristic fortitude of course. At eighteen I joined the RN and for many years we were parted until Ro became friendly with Reg and we often met at weekends in our parents’ home in Portsmouth and visiting the country pubs. Although we did not live at all close in later years we met up from time to time with our pet dogs in tow. Our grandchildren were really pleased to get the gift of well-chosen books from Ro and also things she had knitted. Rosemary, I will miss you greatly, and more than I can say. Your kindness and generosity will fill our memories. Rest in peace.’ John
